Fleet Heroes Awards & Conference 2019 open for entries
Energy Saving Trust’s Fleet Heroes Awards & Conference 2019 are to be held at the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, on Thursday 28 November. These awards celebrate sustainable transport and recognise those organisations that are leading the way and making progress towards achieving zero emissions.
Supported by the Department for Transport, this 2019 event focuses on ‘Driving Net Zero’ and how electrifying fleets and cities supports the government’s ambition of net zero emission transport across the nation.
Now in its 14th year, the Fleet Heroes Awards are now open for entries! A total of seven refreshed categories reflect innovation and advancement in the sector, with applications being invited from organisations of all types and sizes operating across the UK. The awards are free to enter and the event is free to attend.
The new Sustainable Deliveries Hero award recognises an organisation that is improving the efficiency and sustainability of their delivery or collection services, and the revived Innovation Hero award recognises organisations offering an innovative product or service that reduces carbon emissions or air pollution, or presents a novel solution to a travel or transport challenge.
Previous winners include Heathrow, ALD Automotive and British Gas. 2018 saw applications from Scotland actively encouraged to apply for the first time, with Dundee City Council enjoying successes at last year’s awards.
Tim Anderson, Senior Programme Manager at the Energy Saving Trust, commented: “It is great to see the effort of organisations across the UK to support the government in their ambition to reach ‘Net Zero by 2050’. Fleet Heroes recognises those investing in sustainable transport and reducing emissions across their operations whilst also highlighting the progress and innovation in the transport sector. I’d encourage organisations to enter the Fleet Heroes Awards to achieve recognition for their efforts and to inspire others to take action.”
Applications for the awards are open now, and the application form, judging criteria and full list of categories can be found here. Entries close 30 September 2019. Delegates can also secure their free place to attend the event.
